Not Just ITC, These Indian Firms Also Have Over Rs 5-Trillion Market Value

Following a record-high surge of 21% in its shares, conglomerate company ITC joined other Indian firms to cross Rs 5 trillion market capitalisation on April 20.

Following a record-high surge of 21% in its shares, conglomerate company ITC joined other Indian firms to cross Rs 5 trillion market capitalisation on April 20. According to Financial Express, ITC shares have risen 55% in the last year and 5% in the past month.� 

According to International Monetary Fund (IMF) report in 2022, India is the fifth-largest economy in the world in terms of nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP). As market capitalisation is a crucial factor, several Indian companies that operate in both domestic and international markets, contribute to India's growth globally.� 

Here are other Indian firms that have also surpassed Rs 5 trillion market value -

  • Tata Consultancy Services Ltd - One of India's biggest software majors,

  • Tata Consultancy Services Ltd - One of India's biggest software majors, TCS became the first Indian company to cross the market cap of Rs 5 trillion in July 2014.
  • Reliance Industries Ltd - In July 2017, Reliance Industries Ltd became the second Indian company after Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS) to cross Rs 5 trillion market capitalisation.
  • HDFC Ltd -  After TCS and Reliance, HDFC was the third Indian company and the first Indian Bank to attain this feat in January 2018.
  • Hindustan Unilever Ltd- Consumer goods company HUL became the fourth entrant to the list in August 2020.
  • Infosys Ltd - In October 2020, Infosys, a major player in the IT industry, joined the league of Indian companies, becoming the fifth such firm to achieve this milestone.
  • ICICI Bank Ltd - The second bank to feature on the list, ICICI crossed ₹5 trillion in market capitalisation after its shares surged in September 2021.
  • State Bank of India- After becoming the most valuable public sector stock in July 2022, SBI  hit the Rs 5 trillion market cap in September 2022. It is the third Indian lender to achieve this milestone.
  • Life Insurance Corp Of India- With a market cap of Rs 5.54 trillion, LIC is also among this list of 11 Indian firms.
  • Bharti Airtel Ltd - After crossing Rs 4 trillion market cap in September 2021, Bharti Airtel too made it to the list of Indian companies with over Rs 5 trillion m-cap.
